Hello Fellow Reader,

I am a 20-something-year-old science-lady that currently resides in Toronto, Canada. Over the last five years I finished my post-secondary education in Chemistry, got my first full-time job, moved three times. Over the last five years I scraped together as much money as I could to finally put a down payment on my first home!

I’ve always been a creative person and am very interested in power tools. I got my start in the DIY world when I was very little. One of my earliest projects was using a jig-saw to make a mini wooden carpenter’s wheel for the Medieval unit in grade 3 (with parental supervision of course). Since then I’ve gotten more into wood working in the past year or so and coming up with ways of making trendy pieces for less.

Science has also been a passion of mine from an early age. I love to learn about how things work especially on a molecular level. As a kid I used to watch Cold Case Files on A&E and ever since then, I was hooked on science. I have a background in both chemistry and biology and that has certainly helped me to look at things (including DIY’s) from a more analytical mindset.

With being apart of the DIY world, the science world, and in conjunction with becoming a first-time homebuyer, the idea for this blog was born. Come join the journey as I chronical the first-time home buying experience, making my future house ‘home’, living on a tight budget, and all the mistakes along the way…

…of course all with a splash of science!
